About  

Born in 1991, Mathias Benguigui, Franco-Swiss artist lives and works in Paris. In 2009, he started his career as a photographer by collaborating with cultural institutions such as Nuits de Fourvière, Festival Lumière, Musée des Confluence or Orchestre de Paris. In 2016, he took a turning point in his practice by obtaining a "Photojournalism and Documentary" diploma at EMI-CFD (Paris), and won the Grand Prix Paris Match - Nature and Environment with his first series Tao. Exploring the visual narrative of reality, he developed his photographic culture within the newspaper Libération as a photo editor. Today, he concentrates on the production of long term personal documentary projects. His last one, Les Chants de l'Asphodèle (Asphodel Songs), produced with Agathe Kalfas, was finalist for the Prix Mentor 2019, the Prix Maison Blanche 2019, the Prix des Amis du Musée Albert Kahn 2020 and will be published by Editions Le Bec en l'Air in September 2021.
